At trans:verse we are passionate about anchoring conflict sensitivity and gender-transformation for programming, project management, analysis and training.

No matter what your programme or projects focuses on, we offer the kind of support you need.

In some contexts that means creating HDP nexus strategies that bridge emergency response with local infrastructures for peace and inclusive development. In others that means addressing the gendered impacts of climate change in countries affected by armed conflict or aligning internal systems with their values of diversity and inclusion.

Every collaboration we enter is shaped by feminist, intersectional and conflict-sensitive thinking tailored to your specific context. That means asking thoughtful questions and support you to take action, even in fragile environments.

Whatever your focus, lasting change begins with understanding the people and systems behind the work. We help you deepen your understanding of the dynamics that drive exclusion and social fragmentation and support you to act in ways that are grounded in the lived realities of diverse communities.

Whether through participatory assessments or internal policy reviews, we provide in-depth research and analysis that supports evidence-based decision-making. We design trainings that inform, engage and equip participants to put what they learnt into practice. We support the development of effective systems and strong capacities to ensure your work remains inclusive, needs-based and adaptive.

Managing Partners

Julia and Birgit come from different feminist schools of thought and have followed distinct professional and academic paths. This means, that they look at a subject from different angles, grounding their approach in a shared commitment to challenging structural exclusion, advancing gender and conflict sensitivity, and embracing diverse perspectives. They started trans:verse, giving their passions a new direction: assisting clients in humanitarian, development and peacebuilding work.

“We believe in integrity, being true to our values and showing respect for other people, especially persons from deprivileged groups, by helping to uphold their rights. With trans:verse, we make a commitment to safeguard gender equality and the do no harm approach in the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding work. “

‍ ‍Buzz-Word Bingo

In the humanitarian, development and peacebuilding sectors, certain terms and concepts tend to be subject to fashion, resulting in their meaning being diluted and used loosely.
At trans:verse, we are transparent about our approaches. This includes clarifying our understanding of certain terms and concepts so that we do not simply use the latest buzzwords to appear well-informed and up to date.
Also, there is usually more than one way to understand something. Working in diverse teams requires us to discuss different perspectives until we reach a shared understanding that suits everyone, supports the values that trans:verse stands for and best serves our clients.

“Embracing our needs, stories and lived experiences allows us to co—create meaningful, robust and sustainable pathways to navigate the challenges and conflicts of our time. trans:verse exemplifies a commitment to investing in the transformative strength of inclusivity, critical self-reflectivity and radical hope.”
